It is not quite reality, just a little beyond it. And yet is is truth. This was a small oil sketch, done completely freehand, no drawing or anything. I wanted to maintain a free, flowing style of the plen aire impressionists. I let the paint determine where it wanted to be.

One of my favorite spots to sit … it’s a gravel boat launch ramp at the lower end of the Nestucca River just Southwest of Pacific City.
