We might say, as seen on TV?

Ax Man
Watercolor 9×12
I had two inspirations for this painting. First I have been watching the History Channel TV series, Ax Men which is supposed to be based on actual loggers here in Oregon and was filmed last fall and early winter. Well, okay, they are real loggers in Oregon but I have to tell you that the dramatization is wicked. I’m familiar with some of these people. But I digress….
Along with the TV “documentary” about Oregon loggers, I’ve also been reviewing my collection of Winslow Homer materials, particularly his works in the Adirondack mountains. A painting of a woodsman caught my eye and it occurred to me that an update was in order.
Thus, we have Ax Man.
Alas, the original watercolor painting is already in a private collection. I barely had time to enjoy it for myself. However, I was able to preserve it in the form of a poster and a framed print so we can all appreciate the legacy of the modern American woodsman.
NEW: Abstracted from this painting, the all new AX MAN T-SHIRT …show your support with an axmen tee. Get one quick!
Thank you for supporting the arts.

This is my favorite of yours so far. Something about it seems a little morbid and sad…and I totally dig it.
